Otway Pork on the menu across Victoria

AUGUST, 2005: VICTORIA’S best-tasting free range pork will soon appear on restaurant and café menus across the state thanks to a new partnership between Otway Pork and food service provider Chefs Choice Meats.

 

The new deal means food lovers can now enjoy the delicious taste of Otway Pork at some of Victoria’s leading eateries.

 

Otway Pork Managing Director Ian Farran said the arrangement expands the premium brand’s sales and distribution channels; previously focused on retailing through gourmet butchers and selected independent and Coles supermarkets.

 

 “Now through Chefs Choice Meats we can offer restaurants Otway Pork as they require,” Mr Farran said. 

 

Chefs Choice Sales and Marketing Director, Vito Munafo said consumers were becoming more brand conscious and wanted to know where their meat came from.

 

“Beef, chicken and more recently lamb has been branded on menus for many years, and now for the first time people can confidently order Otway Pork and get the full story and background,” Mr Munafo said.

 

“Otway Pork is a brand with credibility and substance and, most importantly for our customers, it delivers on taste.”

 

Otway Pork is bred free range on a farm near the Otway Ranges and is the only pork in Australia with RSPCA accreditation. Selected lean cuts also attract the National Heart Foundation “tick”, suiting those wanting a healthier alternative.

 

The new partnership was launched in August at Melbourne’s Hilton on the Park during a sumptuous lunch attended by come 50 local chefs.

 

Guests enjoyed a selection of dishes specially created to showcase the versatility of Otway Pork by respected Hilton Head Chef Roland Hofmann and Chateau Yering’s young star, Head Chef Shane Delia. (Menu details and photos attached.)

 

Roland and Shane confirmed that Otway Pork would now feature on their menus, saying they were impressed with the natural flavours, tenderness and versatility of the meat.
